With a community farm in West Nashville, we are are group of folks working to bring sustainable agriculture into the city!
Nashville Urban Harvest is a community group working to build a sustainable food system in Nashville, Tennessee, and environs. We seek ways to help align public action with public values: educating for food justice, creating markets to support local producers, producing food on urban green space, all with an eye toward sustainable, local, community-supported agriculture and action.
A few of our programs:
Public Square Farmers’ Market – This past season the market ran from 11am-3 pm Thursday afternoons at the Public Square Plaza! Come for the BEST in local farm fresh products, including organic produce, free range eggs, grass fed meats, fresh artisan breads, handmade pasta, organic naturally dyed clothing, organic flowers, and more! Please stay in touch as we make market plans for the 2008 growing season.
Buy Local Nashville – A campaign to encourage residents to Buy Local when they are making purchases and to support the local businesses that keep our community unique and healthy. We seek to promote the overall social, economic, and environmental health of our economy and communities by increasing awareness about the personal and community benefits of buying local. We work to create an economy that preserves community character and vitality, promotes economic justice, and protects ecological health and diversity. The basis of this pyramid of local sustainability is that communities as a whole benefit when we buy locally. Please visit www.buylocalnashville.com for more information and statistics on this premise.
